Fantasy Football - J.D. McKissic

All roster figures as per NFL.com fantasy leagues.

Alexander Mattison, RB Minnesota (20.2% rostered) – Thanks to the injury sustained by starter Dalvin Cook last week, Mattison will get the majority of action out of the Vikings’ backfield. That should bode well for fantasy owners, as Mattison is one of the better backup RBs in the league; not only is Mattison a capable runner, but he’s pretty productive receiver as well. In the two games Cook missed earlier this season, Mattison was targeted 15 times, recording 14 catches (93% catch rate) for 99 yards and a TD. His production in the passing game, as good as it is, may not be the best part of his game; he also produced 225 rushing yards and a TD in those two games.

If he’s available in your league, grab Mattison for the next 2-3 weeks while Cook is sidelined– this is a runner who could probably start for half the teams in the NFL.

J.D. McKissic, RB Washington (58.9% rostered) – It’s not so much of a surprise that McKissic would be on this list; but I was surprised to find out that McKissic is available in 41% of leagues. McKissic is one of the better receiving backs in the NFL, producing 43/397/2 on 53 targets over 11 games. Combined with his 48/212/2 on the ground, McKissic has earned 11.6 PPR points per game. What’s surprising is that McKissic hasn’t been used more by the Football Team this season, but with the possibility of a playoff berth on the line, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the WFT incorporate McKissic into the game plan more than he has been.

I’m not saying that’s the type of production that carries your team, but McKissic’s not a bad roster filler in the event of bye weeks or injuries.

DeAndre Carter, WR Washington (0.4% rostered) – staying in the nation’s capital, DeAndre Carter seems to be a player who’s been coming on a bit the past month. In his last four games, Carter has been targeted by QB Taylor Heinicke 20 times (out of his season total of 31) producing 12 catches for 171 yards and three touchdowns– or 11.75 PPR ppg. Carter is currently available in 99.6% of the leagues on NFL.com, which means you’ve got a great opportunity to pick up a player who has the potential to provide a nice floor for your fantasy stretch run.
